I think trainers who understand that and can teach each horse the way they learn best are few and far between however. Each horse is an individual and has a different learning curve for their abilities. A good trainer should evaluate each horse on an individual basis and work with what the horse has to offer, eventually it will all come together and you will have a happy horse who is willing to work for whoever rides him.
